Who knew you could eat maple leaves, apparently you can. Not only that, Maple leaves are considered a delicacy in Japan. But there is a catch, these are not just any Maple leaves, the leaves belong to the Acer palmatum, or Japanese Maple tree (the Japanese just call it momiji tree) .
This tree is found in certain parts of Japan, North/South Korea, Mongolia and Russia. The typical dessert the Japanese make with this leaves is called “momiji” or “nomiji tempura.” The images below show you more, so see on.
