This animal hospital takes in only abandoned baby bats

There is an animal hospital located in Tolga, Far North Queensland Australia that only cares for orphaned baby bats.   The baby bats become orphaned because of Tick paralysis, or the mother is too ill to care for them. This internationally-renowned animal hospital welcomes about 300 baby bats per year.

The BAT hospital ultimate goal is to aid in the conservation of this bats, and their natural habitat.  This non for profit organization releases hundreds of recovered healthy bats each year. In addition, they provide the community education to “improve the public’s perception and understand of bats.”

The baby bats below are flying foxes or fruit bats.  These are the largest bats in the world.
