This is the South American Goliath birdeater and the world largest spider. With a leg span that can reach about a foot in length, and a body weight of up to 6 oz, this rainforest large arachnid is about the size of a small puppy.
The bird eater sports fangs that can be as long as two inches.
Although poisonous, its poison is not deadly toward humans.
But despite its frightening appearance, these giant is almost harmless to humans.
The birdeater does really go after birds as the main prey, in fact, the chances of killing a bird are small. It mainly hunts at night and it prefers to eat earthworms.
